Kits N Flips

Kits N Flips
Bodies, beats and amazing feats

A concept community event that will see dance, acrobatics and driving rhythms of reclaimed drum kits come together in an explosive demonstration of youth expression.

Project Outline
Kits N Flips is a concept community workshop and performance event curated by Gravity & Other Myths (GOM) and the South Australian Circus Centre (SACC) with support from Country Arts South Australia (CASA).

This bold yet simple project combines youth engagement and skills training with high level performance outcomes, building confidence and connection in community. The young people from the regional communities across South Australia will engage in one week of workshops with professional acrobats, percussionists and hip hop dancers, culminating in a showcase for their local community.

The opportunity to provide a supportive, inspiring and approachable platform for young people to share their experience of the workshop program will not only empower them to gain self-confidence but will also act as a unting force for the community. The final result - an aspirational event, unique to every location that celebrates the young people from each community.

Reviews

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which we make our work, the Kaurna people.

We honour their Elders, past, present and emerging, and acknowledge that the Indigenous people are the first artists of Australia.

It is our privilege to live and create on their country.
